"Subspace electronica with wires and tape..."
The Amber Tapes, originally from Manchester, turn their obsession with vintage analog tape machines into dark experimental soundscapes, often part of multimedia installations. Tracks are built organically, with live electronics and acoustic instruments intricately layered over processed field samples, with stuttering beats from drum machines that have seen far better days; each element added and taken away until something happens. Music for cult b-movies yet to be made... For licensing work email here.
Substance becomes dark matter
When faith becomes ruin
As the monsters come crawling
From Minkowski space time
Influences: old dusty analog gear, oscillator drift, rainy days up north, pink, black and white noise, warped vinyl, slowed down strings, places where people gather, sub-bass from engine chugs, hollow thuds, that sweet resonance threshold with VCF, Jack Daniels, onions with chillis...
